Technical WriterLocation: RemoteLength: 6 monthsRate: £31-36 p/hHours: 9am-6pmAs a technical writer, you'll be responsible for the quality, discoverability and accuracy of developer documentation. You will do hands-on research and obtain necessary technical content from subject matter experts while translating it into clear, concise, structured documentation. This means you might be documenting something yourself from scratch, editing contributed content from someone else and/or fixing and reorganising existing documentation. You'll also have opportunities to do some coding and project management for various documentation requests.The ideal candidate is a strong technical writer with experience in scripting with JavaScript and React Native as well as a good understanding of industry-wide best practices for creating JS samples and tutorials. The candidate should also have strong digital content management, data analysis and project management skills. They've expertise in creating materials that help people to learn technical creative software. They should be proactive, hands on and able to work independently to understand audience and business needs, and deliver content accordingly.Minimum qualifications3+ years of technical writing experience2+ years of experience in one or more of these areas: writing for a software/digital product, AR/VR, content management workflows, editorial quality assurance, developing content with multi-disciplinary teams at a tech company.Writing samples and tutorials for:
  • JavaScript
  • React Native
  • Familiar with editors such as Nuclide, vim, emacs
  • Understanding of industry wide best practices
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to take an existing or new project, understand its scope and direction and finish the project in a timely fashion
  • Proficiency with JavaScript and React Native
  • Using data to make decisions
  • Working with engineers to source, edit and test code samples
  • Project management
  • Writing in plain English
  • Understanding accessibility standards for content
  • Working in multi-disciplinary project teams
