Salary - £37,210 - £38,336 - pro rata Permanent - Part time - 17.5 - 21 hours per week ActionAid UK is a member of the ActionAid Federation, an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. As part of the ActionAid Federation, we work with women and girls, our partners, and dedicated staff in 43 countries to end violence and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want. his role sits within the Research and Programme Policy unit, which is comprised of policy and technical advisers who develop policy thinking and programme-based research to influence ActionAid UK s target decision-makers, agenda-setters, donors, and academic audiences. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated policy specialist to help drive forward ActionAid UK's work challenging the structural barriers to women's economic rights. This post will play a key role in researching and producing a number of deliverables under ActionAid's Valuing Women's Work programme in collaboration with colleagues and partners in Malawi, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya, amongst others. To succeed in this role, applicants must have experience of working within the International Development sector, along with knowledge of how national and international policies can hinder or support the realisation of women's right, especially women s economic rights. An understanding of macroeconomic policy and its impact on women s everyday lives is particularly important. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and experience of researching and producing policy outputs for a range of audiences. This role demands a specialist who will bring research skills, networking ability and a spirit of collaboration to ActionAid UK as it delivers on its 5-year Strategy - Together with Women and Girls. You will have the proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and colleagues from the global South, and a commitment to applying an intersectional feminist lens and approach to research and analysis. We will look to you to undertake qualitative pieces of desk-based research and analysis, and to help shape policy recommendations. Alongside your colleagues, you may also plan and manage research projects, including research and policy work taking place in the Global South. We are keen to receive applications from those with an understanding of UK and international politics in the field of international development and from those with proven experience of campaigning or advocating for social change.
